Performance of Female Leaders: Evidence from College Scorecard
Abstract
The “business case” for female leaders, which claims that having more female leaders would improve organization performance, often rely only on evidences from the business sector. This paper attempt to provide some evidence in a non-business setting, namely college presidents in the US, using the College Scorecard dataset. The results support the “business case” argument to the extent that there is no apparent difference in a range of performance measures between male and female presidents, but female presidents tend to lead to a more inclusive student body.
