Academy of Management Annual Meeting Proceedings includes abstracts of all papers and symposia presented at the annual conference, plus 6-page abridged versions of the “Best Papers” accepted for inclusion in the program (approximately 10%). Papers published in the Proceedings are abridged because presenting papers at their full length could preclude subsequent journal publication. Human Resource Management and Knowledge Exchange: The Drivers and the Impediments

HR professionals are expected to get more involved in knowledge management and facilitate knowledge exchange among employees in knowledge economy. Four papers in this symposium provide a comprehensive view on the relationship between HRM and knowledge sharing. This comprehensive view is reflected by three directions. First, knowledge exchange and sharing process is discussed in terms of various activities, knowledge combination and knowledge hiding. Second, the function of HRM is analyzed in different formats: single HR practices, HR practice bundles, and HR content in combination with HR process. Third, each paper highlights some unique characteristics to explain the relationship between HRM and knowledge sharing.
