From Words to Deeds: Knowledge Dissemination from Academia to Industry - A Systematic Literature Review
Abstract
Academia can be considered as a prime source of knowledge at global, local and national level driving the economic growth of any country. Transfer of knowledge between academic institutions and industry facilitates social change. In this study we conducted a systematic literature review in order to provide an overview of the existing studies on knowledge dissemination from academia to industry through the process of academic engagement. We further classify the different dimensions of academic engagement and through our analytical framework discuss the influence of each of these dimensions on academic engagement. This study offers insights into nature of academia –industry knowledge dissemination and the enabling factors. Our study contributes to develop theoretical perspectives for academia – industry collaborations which is relevant to policy making.
